Wildlife Studies
Ecosphere's biologists have successfully completed surveys for a variety of small mammals, bats, breeding birds, prairie dogs, raptors, kit fox, reptiles, and amphibians. The team regularly conducts surveys for threatened and endangered species for private, tribal, and federal agencies, as well as for author-related technical reports and NEPA documents. Qualifications include:
- Certified by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to survey for Mexican spotted owl and Southwestern willow flycatcher
- Project-specific permits to mist-net for bats, band breeding birds, and live-trap and translocate prairie-dogs
- Familiar with native wildlife species and their habitats throughout the Four Corners area
- Skilled in research and sampling design, as well as statistical analysis
Rangeland Studies
Ecosphere has conducted Rangeland Health Assessments for tribal lands, the BLM, and private individuals in New Mexico and Colorado. Services include ecological site inventories and grazing impact environmental assessments. The firm also conducts rangeland vegetation inventories, and has completed inventories on more than 2 million acres and 4,092 transects for the Bureau of Indian Affairs/Navajo Nation in the last two years.
