Mike "Fitz" Fitzgerald, Principal and Environmental Scientist

With a multidisciplinary background and more than 17 years professional consulting experience, Mike Fitzgerald successfully leads the Ecosphere team as both owner and program manager. He joined Ecosphere in 1996 as a project manager and acquired the business in 1999. Ecosphere has flourished under his guidance, earning the firm a highly regarded reputation for conducting sound environmental science that clients can trust. Mike possesses particular expertise in NEPA, CWA, and ESA compliance. He has managed more than 1,000 environmental projects during his career at Ecosphere, overseeing field investigations, coordinating project logistics, facilitating agency/client consultations, and successfully managing complex budgets. Prior to his career at Ecosphere, Mike spent five years in Alaska at Dames & Moore, Inc., where he conducted biological studies and oil/gas industry regulatory services. He holds B.A. degrees in environmental studies and business economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
